Having been a primary school teacher once upon a time, I can often be heard laughing or giving a client my "teacher voice" when getting passionate about skin care. My eye for detail and desire to see results drew me to the world of permanent cosmetics. I am a licensed master esthetician and permanent cosmetic artist. When I am not at KBB, I am most likely working on a small house build with my husband Clint, owner of Sundog Studios, having fun with one of my 4 daughters or growing something mighty in the greenhouse.

Kara's Beauty Barn has been an evolving dream of mine for over 15 years now. After a trip to India, I have been learning more about Ayurvedic medicine and want to incorporate more holistic wellness ideas into the Beauty Barn. We are constantly growing and changing around here. It is beautiful. It is an honor to lead a team of talented women in their mission to help you feel your most beautiful inside and out. We can't wait to have you at the Barn - you belong here!

ESTHETICIAN

I invite you to experience a luxurious, personalized treatment, using only the most effective products. With over 25 years’ experience in the skincare industry, I am fortunate to have been trained with leading experts in the industry in Los Angeles, then had my own successful practice. It's been a dream come true of mine to live in Bellingham. My husband and I are loving calling Whatcom County home.

I bring a unique scientific and holistic approach to my practice. I offer customized facials, peels, microdermabrasion and waxing. Each visit I design the perfect skincare plan just for you. Leaving you relaxed with a radiant glow inside and out. When I'm not making clients beautiful, you can find me kissing my dog, hiking wonderful trails, gardening, in or on water, travelling, and writing music. I look forward to meeting you!

ESTHETICIAN

Since a young age I've always been motivated to learn more and more about beauty/skincare. It all started in middle school when I found a passion for makeup and started practicing on myself. My mother and sister were always so impressed, they started asking me to do their makeup for special events. I realized it was something I enjoyed and could see myself doing all the time.

Around this same time I started developing pretty severe acne. On top of that, I have had eczema since I was a child. I used to be embarrassed of my skin. I spent so much time and money trying product after product, seeing doctors and spending hours on youtube just trying to find the one thing that would make it all magically disappear. I did this for years, pretty much all through high school. It wasn’t until I started to find balance in my life and the decision to go to esthetics school when I realized the key to healthy/normal skin was fairly simple. Now it is my goal to share everything I’ve learned to help everyone love their skin.

ESTHETICIAN

I've been a licensed esthetician for 14 years and I absolutely love being a part of this amazing team! I have a deep passion for holistic skincare combined with an in-depth understanding and interest in the science behind ingredients, and I carefully curate treatments and regimens for each client that nurtures the skin and body as a whole. I strive to create a calming and enjoyable experience with each and every service and whether it's through soothing facials or targeted treatments, I look forward to interacting with my clients and my ultimate goal is for everyone to leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and confident in their glowing skin!

MASSAGE THERAPIST / ESTHETICIAN

My name is Jordyn Johnson and I am a massage therapist and esthetician here at kara's beauty barn. I started my career as an LMT in 2020 when I realized how passionate I am about the healing arts. Recently in 2024 I graduated from Evergreen Beauty College with my esthetics license to expand my work. My approach with my clients is always centered around their well being and homeostasis throughout their entire self. Esthetics are very important in this line of work, and as I do love results, I make sure to focus on calming the nervous system, creating a safe space for anyone and everyone, along with many other techniques to ensure you get the most out of your experience. Many people view this work as a luxury, I view it as self-care, self-love.

MASSAGE THERAPIST

I graduated from the Whatcom Community College Massage Therapy program in 2013. I found my passion practicing massage in spa settings, where I believe a calm and nurturing environment is a key to deep relaxation and healing. My approach is guided by patience, curiosity, empathy, and intuition, specializing in Swedish and relaxation massage to promote nervous system balance and a sense of peace.

I encourage self-advocacy and working together as a team in my sessions, helping clients discover their voice and embrace their unique needs. Whether it’s adjusting pressure, focusing on specific areas, or simply taking up space in a way that feels good, my goal is to help each person feel confident and at ease in their own body.

When I’m not at work or eagerly learning a new massage skill, I enjoy spending time with my partner, being silly with my kids and also making sure to carve out some quiet time for myself to rest and reset.

SPA MANAGER / EVENT COORDINATOR

I absolutely adore my roll at the Beauty Barn. As Spa Manager and Event Coordinator I am here to help with anything you need! I have extensive training in make-up applications and spray tans, but I get my real thrills from managing the day-to-day operations here at KBB.

I am a mom to two wonderful kiddos, a long-time partner to a man that fixes everything I break and a lifetime Upper-Lefter (Washingtonian)! I met Kara at the age of 19 when I was working Front Desk at my first job in the spa industry. I was instantly drawn to her magnetic smile and laugh that seemed to contain some sort of unparalleled happiness I have yet to come across in another human. I started soaking in everything about skincare, make-up and aesthetics I could get my hands on and have been lucky enough to work along-side many talented artists, training on make-up applications, spray tans and beauty trends ever since. My passion for beauty and for people has never changed. I have loved following along with Kara on her journey over the years to what she has created with the utopia that is the ever-evolving Beauty Barn. I can’t wait to meet you, beautiful!
